Brief History
|
Cadernos de Tradução was created in 1996 by professors from the Federal University of Santa Catarina. The journal publishes original articles, reviews, translation reviews, interviews, and translated articles. Currently, Cadernos de Tradução is linked to the Graduate Program in Translation Studies at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (PGET-UFSC) and represents a recognized national and international forum for discussion on research in the area of Translation Studies. The journal is indexed in several national and international databases, evaluated as A1, in Qualis/Capes and classified as Q1 in Scimago Journal & Country Rank of Scopus. Cadernos de Tradução is part of the SciELO Brazil Collection. The main objective of the journal is to publish research results in the field of Translation Studies in Brazil and abroad and to follow the debate in the area, which is inherently interdisciplinary. It publishes high-quality articles, reviews and interviews, with an effective scientific and academic contribution to Translation Studies. In addition, the criteria adopted for the selection of works are: originality, clarity, relevance to the area. Since 2022, the journal Cadernos de Tradução began publishing in a continuous flow following the principles of open science. Cadernos de Tradução is available exclusively online and works in open access, not charging any type of fee for publication. Cadernos de Tradução publishes works in Portuguese, English, Spanish, French, German and Italian.

Open Science Compliance

Following Open Science best practices, from 2022 onwards, the journal has started to share its work in a continuous flow. Cadernos de Tradução follows the Gold Open Access model. Interested authors must submit the Open Science-compliant form at the time of submission. |

Focus and Scope

Cadernos de Tradução presents in its content: unpublished articles, translated articles related to Translation Studies, reviews of books related to translation (theory, history, and criticism), reviews of translated works and interviews with translators, professors and authorities in the field of Translation Studies. The journal's target audience It is made up mostly of undergraduate and graduate students, professors, editors, translators, writers and researchers in the field of translation and related areas, both foreign and Brazilian. The journal receives work in a continuous flow. Cadernos de Tradução is not responsible for or endorses the opinions expressed by the authors of the texts published therein, emphasizing that the opinions are the sole responsibility of the author. |
Digital Preservation

Cadernos de Tradução is committed to ensuring long-term access to its content. Should any incident occur in the services, the journal's digital archives are preserved in the Cariniana Network through the LOCKSS program. LOCKSS creates a distributed archive system among participating libraries that allows them to create permanent archives of their journals for preservation and restoration. This journal follows the standards defined in the SciELO Program's Digital Preservation Policy. |

Preprints
|
Cadernos de Tradução accepts the submission of articles on a preprint server. To submit a manuscript as a preprint, the authors declare that they accept all the submission guidelines of the journal on the SciELO Preprints server and consent to its publication on the servers. To post an article as a preprint, the submitting author must have at least three articles from any date or two recent articles from the last two years with active DOIs in the Crossref repository . Cadernos de Tradução emphasizes that the SciELO Preprints server may reject any manuscript for any reason. Texts submitted to the SciELO Preprints server must be sent in PDF or XML publication schema. Immediately after acceptance, a preprint will receive a DOI and will be made available to the public as open access attribution CC-BY. Once published, preprints cannot be removed. The SciELO Preprints server will remove preprints whenever an ethical violation is detected. When a SciELO journal approves a submitted preprint, the server will link the preprint to its corresponding journal URL and also update the Crossref record with the relationship between them. |
Peer review process
|
Articles, interviews, and reviews submitted to Cadernos de Tradução are forwarded to the editor-in-chief, assistant editors and members of the journal's editorial board for an initial review. This review is an initial assessment to determine whether the text meets the journal's guidelines. After this preliminary evaluation, the papers are sent to reviewers from the editorial board, scientific board or ad hoc reviewers, depending on the subject of the article. Authors who have already published in the journal may be invited to provide reviews. All reviewers receive the articles via the portal and the evaluation can be done blindly or openly, as long as there is agreement between the author and the reviewer. In addition to the manuscript for evaluation, reviewers receive a standard evaluation form and a declaration on "conflict of interest", which must be signed and sent to the editor-in-chief of the journal. Regarding the disclosure of opinions, the journal Cadernos de Tradução recommends offering reviewers the option of directly dialoguing with the corresponding author, with or without disclosure of identities, always with the agreement of both parties. Note: A conflict of interest exists when an author (or the author's institution), reviewer, referee, or editor has financial or personal relationships that inappropriately influence (bias) their actions. Both decisions regarding rejected and accepted collaborations will be communicated to the authors. The editorial team reserves the right not to comment on the reasons in cases of rejection. The journal reserves the right not to accept for evaluation more than one unpublished text by an author per year. In the case of insertion of images, the responsibility for the procedures related to reproduction rights will be exclusively of the authors. The journal is not responsible for the images sent. The condition must be accepted by the author at the time of submission via the portal, according to the model below: I declare that I am the author, or licensee, or assignee, or have prior and express authorization from the author, whether by a paid or free instrument, for the purpose of using and reproducing the images contained in my work that will be published in the Cadernos de Tradução Journal, ISSN 2175-7968, within the scope of the UFSC Periodicals Portal, indexed in the SciELO database. In the event of no prior permission to use third-party works or in the event of limitation of Copyright - Art. 46 of the Brazilian Copyright Law - the declarant, aware of the content of articles 24 and 29 of the aforementioned normative diploma, assumes full responsibility for any violation of Copyright. Open data

Cadernos de Tradução offers immediate free access to its content, following the principle that making scientific knowledge freely available to the public provides greater global democratization of knowledge. In addition, the journal also suggests to authors the option of sharing data in reliable repositories, such as SciELO Data, Zenodo, NADAC, hal and institutional repositories such as those of Federal Universities, Federal Institutes, State Universities and public research funding agencies. |
Fee Collection

Cadernos de Tradução does not charge any type of submission, evaluation or publication fee. All full content articles are free of charge and are made available in their entirety to any reader without the need for registration or a password. |
Ethics and Misconduct Policy, Errata and Retraction
|
Under no circumstances do we encourage misconduct or allow it to happen. Any allegations of research misconduct will be immediately investigated. The Journal publishes errata to correct articles when necessary. The Journal is always willing to publish corrections, clarifications, right of reply, retractions and apologies, when necessary. |
Conflict of Interest Policy
|
Conflicts of interest can be personal, commercial, political, academic or financial in nature. Conflicts of interest can occur when authors, reviewers or editors have interests that may influence the preparation or evaluation of manuscripts. When submitting a manuscript, authors are responsible for acknowledging and disclosing financial or other conflicts that may have influenced the work. If there is, even potentially, a conflict of interest, authors must inform this in a signed document attached to the submission platform. The Cadernos de Tradução Journal is aligned with the principles of open science and with the advancement of technologies, especially artificial intelligence (AI), as useful tools in the process of academic writing and production, always valuing originality, integrity, scientific development and knowledge sharing. Sex and Gender Issues

The editorial team of Cadernos de Tradução, in addition to the authors who publish in the journal, must always observe the guidelines on Sex and Gender Equity in Research (Sex and Gender Equity in Research – SAGER). The SAGER guidelines comprise a set of guidelines that guide the reporting of information on sex and gender in study design, data analysis, and results and interpretation of findings. In addition, Cadernos de Tradução observes the gender equity policy in the formation of its editorial board. |

Authors of articles published by Cadernos de Tradução retain copyright over their work, licensing it under the Creative Commons Attribution CC-BY license, which allows articles to be reused and distributed without restriction, as long as the original work is properly cited. Authors grant Cadernos de Tradução exclusive first publication rights. |

Types of documents accepted

Cadernos de Tradução publishes original articles, articles translated into Portuguese, reviews, translation reviews and interviews. All submitted texts must reflect the focus and scope of the journal. Texts may be submitted in Portuguese, English, Spanish, Italian, German and French. In order to publish a text in Cadernos de Tradução, all authors must have an Orcid registration. |
Authors' Contributions

The indication of authorship is based on the CrediR taxonomy (more information at http://credit.niso.org/), in a scientific work it is only due to those who: a) They contribute intellectually, directly and substantially to the design of the research/article (acquisition, analysis or interpretation of study data). b) Participate in the construction of preliminary versions or critical review of the article's content. c) Approve the final version of the article to be published. d) They are responsible for authorship, in order to guarantee the accuracy and integrity of the article. Authors must present a declaration of conflict of interest when applicable. |

Citations and References

Cadernos de Tradução uses the author-date system and citations and references must follow APA standards (7th ed.), as shown in the examples presented here . Only works cited in the body of the text should be included in the list of references. All citations must be able to be correlated in the list of references and vice-versa. Papers that use citations in the following formats may not be accepted for evaluation. Authors may submit supplementary documents at the time of submission, such as research collection data, etc. For translated articles, it is mandatory that the version of the article initially published in the original language be submitted as supplementary documents, as well as the translation authorization from the author, journal and/or publisher that published the first version of the text. |
