The RBRH - Brazilian Journal of Water Resources is the official journal of the Brazilian Association of Water Resources (ABRhidro). Its goal is to publish original and novel research, with unquestionable scientific and technical contributions in the several fields of water resources. RBRH has an editorial history dating back to 1978, when it was launched with the name of the Brazilian Journal of Hydrology and Water Resources, being published until 1981 with a semiannual distribution. In 1982, the Brazilian Association of Water Resources (ABRhidro) established an agreement with the Brazilian Journal of Engineering (RBE), funded by the Brazilian National Council for Scientific and Technological Research (CNPq), to publish the Notebook of Water Resources. During 13 years, until 1995, the scientific journal of ABRHidro circulated under the name of Water Resources Notebook of RBE. Initially, the periodicity of the publication was semi-annual, changing to quarterly in 1998 and, continuously from 2017 onwards. The published papers of RBRH are available at the ABRhidro webpage. The secretariat of ABRhidro in Porto Alegre keeps a collection of all the issues published during this period, for on-site consultation Authors interested in submitting their manuscripts to RBRH, should visit www.abrh.org.br/RBRH or https://mc04.manuscriptcentral.com/rbrh-scielo and follow the Instructions to Authors. |

Best Practices of Open Science
The RBRH journal supports the good practices of Open Science that result in a more transparent editorial process. RBRH requests the Open Science Compliance Form - SciELO, which must be uploaded to ScholarOne as a Complementary File for revision. 1. Preprint publishing Manuscripts deposited on preprint servers may be submitted to RBRH. The journal’s editorial committee will decide the peer review process for manuscripts from preprint servers. Preprints are defined as an author's version for a research manuscript prior to formal peer review in a journal, which is deposited with a public servant. Preprints can be deposited at any time during the peer review process. The publication of preprints is not considered a prior publication and will not compromise the consideration of this journal. Once the accepted manuscript is published in RBRH, the preprint version must be changed to include the link that directs to the final version published in the journal. Authors can choose the preprint server. The journal’s editorial board recommends SciELO Preprints. 2. Open Peer Review The names of authors, reviewers and editors are open throughout the review process. 3. Availability of databases
RBRH recommends that authors make the research databases used in the preparation of the manuscript available in the SciELO data repository. Research data can be made available when submitting your manuscript. The available databases may be considered in the manuscript evaluation process. Before any deposit, consult the SciELO Data Terms and Conditions of Use. The guide for publishing the data is available at Data Preparation Guide (Portuguese only). |

Manuscripts should be submitted in English following the author’s guidelines. Papers should also contain Title, Abstract and Keywords in Portuguese. The translation of papers to English is of the author’s responsibility. The submitted manuscript must not be submitted to another journal or publication and must not have been previously published, except in the form of a summary at a scientific event. The manuscript should be sent by internet to the following address: http://www.abrh.org.br/RBRH according to the instructions for use. Besides the identification of the authors via the system, it is requested that (also via the system) the file be sent in Doc with the complete name and affiliation of the authors. This information will be used if the article is accepted for publication. The author must agree to the following conditions when the manuscript is sent: 1) Commit to paying a deposit concerning for the publication fee charged after the decision to accept its publication in RBRH; 2) Take responsibility for the other authors, if any, as co-responsible for the technical and scientific content of the article, according to Article 5 of Brazilian Law N. 9610, regarding Copyright AUTHORS IDENTIFICATION FILE This file should include, for each author:
Copyright The authors are fully responsible for all statements published in the article. All the material published becomes the property of the RBRH, which then holds the copyright and will be available with free and unrestricted access at: ABRhidro and SciELO or other databases the RBRH - Brazilian Journal of Water Resources is indexed. Total or partial reproduction of the work is permitted, if the source is explicitly indicated. After acceptance of the article for publication, the agreement form for the transfer of copyright to the RBRH / ABRhidro will be requested. Additional Information The manuscripts subdivided into parts I, II, etc, must be registered separately, but will be submitted to the same reviewers. The manuscripts may contain figures in color (pictures, graphs, plots, and other), but the maximum permissible size of the complete file is 30Mb (Megabytes). Manuscripts that do not follow these guidelines will be returned to the authors to correct the problems. The classification of manuscripts sent as Scientific/Technical, and that Editors and/or Reviewers interpret as being in the style of a Technical Note should be altered, and they will be reevaluated if alterations are requested. If the authors do not agree with the change to the Technical Note, the manuscript will be rejected. Processing and Peer Review system/ Criteria for refereeing Articles are sent to two reviewers for evaluation and must be unpublished and present a technical and scientific contribution to the community. Both the reviewers and the authors, during the entire article processing process, can be identified by the other party. The works received will follow the procedures established by the Editorial Committee of the Journal. The article arbitration process is described below. Technical review: the works will be initially evaluated in relation to the fulfillment of the publication and documentation norms required in the submission of the manuscripts. If they do not agree with the instructions, they will be returned to the authors for proper adjustments before being submitted for evaluation by the associate editors and reviewers. Pre-analysis: the manuscripts approved in the technical review will be sent to the Associate Editors to assess their suitability for the journal. If the manuscript is not within the expected parameters, it will be returned to the responsible author by the Editor-in-Chief. Analysis of merit and content: the articles approved by the Associate Editors will be evaluated in relation to the merit and scientific method by at least two ad hoc rapporteurs from units other than the origin of the work, in addition to the Editor-in-Chief. The Editor-in-Chief will decide on the acceptance of the manuscript. When the revision of the original is necessary, the manuscript will be returned to the corresponding author for modification. A revised version with the changes made must be re-submitted by the authors, and this will be reviewed by the Editor-in-Chief, Associate Editors, and reviewers as necessary. The revised manuscript should highlight the changes made. A reply letter to the reviewers and editors should be attached to the manuscript file. The rejected manuscripts, but with the possibility of reformulating the work, may return as a new work, to start another evaluation process. After approval on scientific merit, the papers will be submitted to a final review by a freelance professional indicated by the journal. The payment of this service will be the responsibility of the author (s) and the necessary procedures, the value of the service and the form of payment to the professional will be sent directly to the corresponding author. In cases of inappropriateness, the work will be sent to the authors for their review. The concepts issued in the published works will be the sole responsibility of the authors, not necessarily reflecting the opinion of the Editor-in-Chief or the Editorial staff. Editorial Board The editorial board of the RBRH comprises the Chief Editor, Associate Editors and Executive Editor (Look at Editorial Board). The Executive Editor is the main person responsible for following the manuscript review process at the RBRH, inviting Reviewers and informing Authors, and thus helping the Associate Editors in the process. The Chief Editor, besides establishing guidelines for the RBRH is also involved in polemical cases and analyzing appeals by authors regarding the Editorial Decision. Conflict of interest The public trustworthiness of the peer review process and the credibility of published articles depend in part on how conflicts of interest are managed during writing, peer review, and decision-making by editors. When authors submit a manuscript, they are responsible for recognizing and disclosing financial or other conflicts that may have influenced their work. Authors must acknowledge in the manuscript all financial support for the work and other financial or personal connections in relation to the research. The ad hoc reviewer must disclose to the editors any conflicts of interest that could influence their opinion of the manuscript, and, where appropriate, must declare themselves unqualified to review it. Appeals against an Editorial Decision The author(s) can appeal an Editorial Decision to reject a manuscript. This procedure should be performed via the system using the option “Send E-mail”, for the rejected manuscript. The authors should supply elements that justify the appeal which will be analyzed by the Associate Editor and Chief Editor. If the appeal is accepted, the manuscript review process may be re-opened. Publishing Fee There is no article publication fee. Similarity analysis RBRH adopts the "Crossref Similarity Check" system offered by SciELO for plagiarism identification. |
