EDITORIAL POLICY

Preprints

The journal Psicologia Escolar e Educacional accepts the publication of articles on the SciELO Preprints server. Authors must disclose details of the preprint posting, including DOI and licensing terms, upon submission of the manuscript or at any other point during the editorial process at Psicologia Escolar e Educacional.

Peer review process

After submitting the article to http://www.scielo.br/pee, a preliminary analysis will be performed to verify its adequacy: to the general instructions defined by the editorial policy; to the focus and scope of the journal; the relevance and contribution of the text; and similarity analysis using the Plagius software. A Certificate of Ethical Appreciation by a research ethics committee is requested during the submission process. If there is any doubt regarding the documentation presented, the journal may reject the article. Articles that do not meet the criteria will be returned to the authors for corrections. If the articles are found to be inadequate or in disagreement with the journal's standards and scope, they may be rejected based on this initial assessment, otherwise they will be sent for peer review.

Please complete the Open Science Compliance Form.

The evaluation of the work submitted to the journal Psicologia Escolar e Educacional is carried out impartially and anonymously, that is, the evaluators are not required to identify the author(s) of the article. In the case of Preprints, however, it is not possible to guarantee the anonymity of the authors and, therefore, the evaluation may be single-blind or open. Each article will be assigned an Editor-in-Chief who will indicate a Section Editor; this Editor, in turn, will appoint two (two) reviewers and will monitor the entire process of evaluation, review, and rejection or approval of the final text. The name of this Editor will be published with the paper, provided that he/she agrees. The decision on acceptance for publication is made by the Editorial Board.

Open Data

The journal Psicologia Escolar e Educacional encourages the sharing of primary data, codes and other materials that, produced in research, usually underlie the submitted article (Guide for promoting openness, transparency and reproducibility of research published by SciELO journals). This content may be made available before or at the time of publication. Exceptions are allowed in cases involving legal and ethical issues. The objective is to contribute to the preservation and reuse of content and research approved for publication (Guide for citing research data). Information on whether or not the content underlying the submitted articles is made available must be included in the Open Science Compliance Form (document to be completed and attached as a supplementary file at the time of submission). This sharing is the responsibility of the article's authors. SciELO offers its own repository, SciELO Data, available to authors who publish articles in journals indexed in it (List of repositories for depositing research data).

Charging Fees

Psicologia Escolar e Educacional does not charge a fee for submitting or evaluating articles. It is bilingual and, if the article is accepted for publication after evaluation, the authors will be responsible for paying for the translation into English (or Portuguese or Spanish, if the article is in English) with a translator accredited by the journal.

Ethics and Misconduct Policy, Errata and Retraction

Psicologia Escolar e Educacional adopts the principles of publication ethics from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) code of conduct (Guide to good practices for strengthening ethics in scientific publishing). Ethical issues and/or issues that may harm the journal's reputation will be evaluated and forwarded by the Editorial Board.

In cases of misconduct, the retraction policy will be applied by the journal in accordance with the SciELO Good Practices Guide. The registration and publication of Errata (Guide for the registration, marking and publication of Errata), as well as the registration and publication of Retractions will also follow the recommendations proposed by SciELO (Guide for the registration, marking and publication of Retractions), (Guide for the registration, marking and publication of Addenda).

Policy about Conflict of Interest

Potential conflicts of interest are considered when authors, reviewers or editors have interests that, whether apparent or not, may influence the preparation or evaluation of manuscripts. The conflict of interest may be personal, commercial, political, academic or financial in nature.

If there is, even if potentially, a conflict of interest, the author(s) must inform it in a specific document signed and attached to the submission platform. For more information, see: Disclosure of Financial and Non-Financial Relationships and Activities, and Conflicts of Interest

When based on a thesis or dissertation, we ask authors to indicate the name of the author, title, year, name of the postgraduate program and institution where it was presented.

Authors must indicate in the manuscript all financial support received from commercial or private entities, national or international organizations or research funding agencies to subsidize the costs of the study that gave rise to the article submitted for evaluation.

The reviewer must disclose to the editor(s) any conflicts of interest that could influence his/her opinion on the manuscript and, when applicable, must declare that he/she is not qualified to review it. The manuscript is assessed by two reviewers who do not have a conflict of interest with the research, authors or funders of the study.

Adoption of similarity verification software

The journal Psicologia Escolar e Educacional uses the Plagius – Plagiarism Detector software to check similarity after the article is submitted, as the first step in the evaluation process.

The PEE, electronic ISSN 2175-3539, seeks to comply with good practices regarding scientific publishing of journals, based on the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) code of conduct. Preventing negligence is also a crucial responsibility of the editors and editorial staff: any form of unethical behavior and plagiarism in any instance are not accepted at PEE. Authors submitting articles to the journal declare that their content is original and guarantee that the work has not been published or is under review/evaluation in any other journal.

Sex and Gender Issues

Manuscripts submitted to Psicologia Escolar e Educacional must follow the guidelines on Sex and Gender Equity in Research (SAGER), which guide the reporting of information about sex and gender in the study design, results, data analysis, and any interpretations arising from the findings.

I declare that this work is unpublished and original, it is not being submitted to any other journal (national or international) for publication, complies with all ethical procedures and has my (our) authorization to be published.

[We also inform that the manuscript has been deposited in the SciELO Preprints server, with title xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx and URL xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx in the “Open Science Compliance Form” (document to be filled out and attached as a supplementary file at the time of submission).

Sincerely

Name(s) of signatory(ies), signature(s) and ORCID of each author

The presentation of the papers must follow the following steps:

1. Title page without identifying the name of the author(s) and containing only:

1.1. Full title in Portuguese, not to exceed 12 words.

1.2. Full title in English, compatible with the title in Portuguese.

1.3. Paragraph acknowledging financial support, when applicable

2. Page containing the Abstract, in Portuguese:

The abstract must have a maximum of 250 words. The abstract must be followed by three to five keywords for indexing purposes. The words must allow the classification of the paper with adequate precision, allow it to be retrieved together with similar papers and evoke terms that would possibly be considered by a researcher when conducting a bibliographic survey. It is necessary to use the Terminology in Psychology from the BVS Psi (http://newpsi.bvs-psi.org.br/cgibin/wxis1660.exe/iah/?IsisScript=iah/iah.xis&lang=P&base=TERMINOLOGY)

In the case of a research report, the abstract must include: description of the problem investigated, relevant characteristics of the sample, method used for data collection, presentation of results and discussion.

The abstract of a theoretical study/essay must include: topic addressed (in one sentence), objective, thesis or construct under analysis or organizer of the study, sources used (e.g. observation made by the author, published literature) and conclusions.

3. Sheet containing Abstract, in English, compatible with the text of the abstract:

The Abstract must follow the same specifications for the Portuguese version, followed by three to five keywords, compatible with the keywords and the APA Thesaurus.

4. Text itself:

In all categories of the original, the text must be easily identifiable, indicated by a system of titles and subtitles that reflect this organization. In the case of research reports, the text must include: introduction, method, results and discussion, and references. Non-bibliographic notes must be kept to a minimum and placed at the bottom of the pages, ordered by Arabic numerals that must appear immediately after the text segment to which the note refers. Author citations must be made in accordance with APA standards, exemplified at the end of this text. In the case of a full transcription of a text, the transcription must be delimited by quotation marks. Citations must always be followed by the page number of the original consulted. A literal quotation with 40 or more words must be presented in its own block, starting on a new line, indented five spaces from the margin, in the same position as a new paragraph. The font size must be 12, as in the rest of the text.

5. References according to the 7th Edition of the APA, ordered according to the following general rules. Works with a single author and by the same author are ordered by year of publication, the oldest first. Works with a single author precede works with multiple authors, when the surname is the same. Works in which the first author is the same, but co-authors differ, are ordered by the surname of the co-authors. Works with the same multiple authorship are ordered by date, the oldest first. Works with the same authorship and the same date are ordered alphabetically by title, disregarding the first word if it is an article or pronoun, except when the title itself contains an indication of order; the year is immediately followed by lowercase letters. When repeated, the author's name should not be replaced by a dash or other symbols. The formatting of the reference list should be appropriate for the task of reviewing and editing - in addition to double spacing and font size 12, normal paragraph with indentation only on the second line, without shifting the margins; emphasis should be indicated by italics (e.g., italics). References should not exceed the limit of 30 productions.

6. Annexes: only when they contain important original information, or essential highlights for the understanding of some section of the work. It is recommended to avoid attachments.
