RESUMO As formas e o estatuto da teologia são dependentes de dispositivos socioculturais historicamente mutantes. Nos últimos dois séculos, a teologia se compreende principalmente em função das formas em que se situa na história. Estas formas são diversas e a teologia baseia-se nas tradições que nelas se cristalizam. O presente texto propõe ler uma tradição como o resultado da assunção de problemas humanos e sociais, e aí construir uma genealogia das pulsões em ação, explicitando os termos das problemáticas articuladas a seus efeitos, para abrir uma apreciação das constelações que deles emergem. Em tudo isso, um duplo trabalho será realizado, de um lado, sobre a ou as tradições, do outro, sobre um estado social. Isso significa romper com toda teologia que se apoia sobre um fundamento dado, e isso determina a epistemologia que está em jogo.

RÉSUMÉ Les formes et le statut de la théologie sont dépendants de dispositifs socioculturels historiquement changeants. Depuis deux siècles, la théologie se comprend principalement en fonction de manières de se situer en histoire. Ces manières sont diverses, et la théologie va faire fond sur ce qui s’y cristallise de traditions. Le présent texte propose de lire une tradition comme la suite d’une prise en charge de problèmes humains et sociaux, d’y construire une généalogie de pulsions à l’œuvre, d’y expliciter les termes de problématiques articulées à leurs effets, d’y ouvrir une appréciation des constellations qui s’en offrent. En tout cela, un double travail sera conduit, sur la ou les traditions d’une part, sur un état social de l’autre. On aura ici coupé d’avec toute théologie appuyée sur un fondement donné, et cela détermine l’épistémologie en jeu.

ABSTRACT The form and status of theology depend on historically changing socio-cultural conditions. For the past two centuries, theology has been understood primarily in terms of the ways in which it situates in history. These ways are diverse, and theology will build on the traditions that crystallize within them. In this text, we propose to read a tradition as the continuation of a process of taking on human and social problems, to construct a genealogy of the impulses at work, to clarify the terms of the problems articulated in their implications, and to open up an appreciation of the constellations that emerge. In all this, we’ll be working on two fronts: on tradition(s), on the one hand, and on a social situation, on the other. This marks a break with any theology based on a given foundation, and determines the epistemology involved.

RESUMO O artigo propõe-se pensar alguns dos pressupostos filosóficos e epistemológicos dos diversos métodos teológicos, na discussão crítica de certas configurações habituais. A discussão de certos conceitos tradicionais, com base numa relação circular entre Teologia e Antropologia leva, em primeiro lugar, a uma compreensão alargada das dinâmicas do "crer", não redutíveis ao campo teológico. A partir desse pressuposto, entra-se na discussão do eventual antropocentrismo dos métodos teológicos tradicionais, em paralelo com os das Ciências Humanas. É a partir dessa crítica que se perspetivam outros horizontes epistemológicos, no interior do atual trabalho científico, no qual se insere a Teologia. Da discussão resultam desafios para uma epistemologia e uma metodologia plurais, não só no campo do quotidiano humano, mas também na relação cada vez mais complexa entre o humano e o não-humano.

ABSTRACT The paper proposes to think about some philosophical and epistemological presuppositions of the various theological methods, in a critical discussion of certain habitual configurations. The discussion of certain traditional concepts, based on a circular relationship between Theology and Anthropology, leads firstly to a broader understanding of the “believing” dynamics which cannot be reduced to the theological field. Starting from this assumption, we enter into a discussion about the possible anthropocentrism of traditional theological methods, in parallel with those of Human Sciences (Humanities). It is from this critique that other epistemological horizons emerge, within current scientific work, which includes theology. The discussion leads to challenges for a plural epistemology and methodology, not only in the field of everyday human life, but also in the increasingly complex relationship between the human and the non-human.

RESUMEN El artículo recuerda la doctrina de los loci theologici de Melchor Cano y la abre para una epistemología teológica al servicio de la eclesiogénesis en tiempos de sinodalidad. En la edad moderna, Cano ha abierto caminos para una dogmática moderna al incluir la historia como locus alienus. En el presente, la doctrina de los loci theologici contribuye al desarrollo de una dialéctica tópica que da espacio a la iglesia local postconciliar y a los desarrollos teológicos contextuales. Abre el camino a una epistemología teológica de una iglesia mundial en la que los diferentes contextos culturales entran en un diálogo vivo en el discernimiento de la verdad teológica. Desde la perspectiva de una teóloga alemana, puede entonces ser posible identificar los elementos básicos de una forma de epistemología que sea consciente de la crítica a las figuras teológicas eurocéntricas del pensamiento del pasado y tenga en cuenta los desafíos decoloniales.

ABSTRACT The essay recalls the loci theologici doctrine of Melchior Cano and opens it up for a theological epistemology in the service of ecclesiogenesis in times of synodality. In the modern age, Cano has opened up paths for a modern dogmatics by including history as locus alienus. In the present, the doctrine of the loci theologici contributes to the development of a topical dialectic that gives space to post-conciliar local church and contextual theological developments. It opens the way for a theological epistemology of a world church in which the different cultural contexts enter into a lively dialogue about the struggle for theological truth. From the perspective of a German theologian, it may then be possible to identify the basic elements of a form of epistemology, which is aware of the criticism of Eurocentric theological figures of thought of the past and takes decolonial challenges into account.

RESUMEN En el concierto actual de las ciencias, la teología reclama su lugar en atención a su método, lo cual le garantiza su pertinencia para contribuir a los desafíos del presente. De ahí que, en este artículo, queremos profundizar en el método teológico propuesto por el teólogo canadiense, Bernard Lonergan, mostrando el horizonte interdisciplinario en el que este método se desarrolla, posibilitando así, el surgimiento y consolidación de las teologías contextuales. Mostraremos también un ejemplo concreto de interdisciplinariedad al proponer el método de Investigación acción participativa (IAP) como una valiosa e interesante mediación de las ciencias sociales para las investigaciones teológicas. Finalmente señalaremos las transformaciones investigativas que estas opciones suponen y los caminos que se abren para producir una teología “a la altura de la época”.

ABSTRACT In the current concert of sciences, theology claims its place in attention to its method, which guarantees its relevance to contribute to the challenges of the present. Hence, in this article, we want to delve into the theological method proposed by the Canadian theologian, Bernard Lonergan, showing the interdisciplinary horizon in which, this method is developed, thus enabling the emergence and consolidation of contextual theologies. We will also show a concrete example of interdisciplinarity by proposing the Participatory Action Reserch method as a valuable and interesting mediation of social sciences for theological research. Finally, we will point out the investigative transformations that these options entail and the paths that open up to produce a theology “up to the times”.

RESUME la conception de la théologie ici présentée refuse de séparer l’élaboration de son savoir de la quête du plus pauvre, du dernier des humains, seul et abandonné dans sa misère. Une telle perspective doit beaucoup à la pensée du P. Joseph Wresinski et du mouvement ATD Quart Monde, qui appelle à un déplacement assez radical de perspective, jusqu’à ce que le plus pauvre ait été entendu. Une théologie qui prend au sérieux cet appel en est renouvelée dans sa manière de penser la révélation et de se rapporter au Christ, notamment dans sa dimension corporelle.

RESUMEN La concepción de la teología que aquí se presenta se niega a separar el desarrollo de sus conocimientos de la búsqueda de los más pobres, los últimos de la humanidad, solos y abandonados en su miseria. Tal perspectiva debe mucho al pensamiento del padre Joseph Wresinski y del movimiento ATD Cuarto Mundo, que exige un cambio de perspectiva bastante radical, hasta que los más pobres hayan sido escuchados. Una teología que se toma en serio esta llamada debe renovar su forma de pensar la revelación y de relacionarse con Cristo, en particular en su dimensión corporal.

SUMMARY The concept of theology presented here refuses to separate the development of its knowledge from the search for the poorest, the last of humanity, alone and abandoned in its misery. Such a perspective owes much to the thinking of Father Joseph Wresinski and the ATD Fourth World movement, which calls for a fairly radical shift in perspective, until the poorest have been heard. A theology that takes this call seriously is renewed in its way of thinking about revelation and relating to Christ, particularly in his bodily dimension.

RESUMO A teologia comparada envolve o engajamento teológico sistemático com os ensinamentos e práticas de outra tradição religiosa. Isto levanta numerosas questões epistemológicas, que podem incidir sobre a possibilidade de uma compreensão genuína de outras religiões, sobre o estatuto da verdade noutras religiões, sobre o processo de discernimento da verdade nessas religiões e sobre as mudanças que ocorrem nos conteúdos dos ensinamentos e práticas quando transpostos de uma tradição religiosa para outra. Abordar estas questões requer o envolvimento com os métodos e abordagens das ciências da religião, da teologia das religiões, bem como o engajamento crítico com exemplos de teologia comparada. Este artigo aborda estas questões, centrando-se nos desenvolvimentos da teologia comparativa cristã.

ABSTRACT Comparative theology involves the systematic theological engagement with the teachings and practices of another religious tradition. This raises numerous epistemological questions, which may focus on the possibility of genuine understanding of other religions, on the status of truth in other religions, on the process of discernment of truth in those religions, and on the changes occurring in the contents of teachings and practices when transposed from one religious tradition into another. Addressing these questions requires engagement with the methods and approaches of religious studies, theology of religions, as well as critical engagement with examples of comparative theology. This article touches upon these questions by focusing on developments within Christian comparative theology.

RESUMO O artigo é uma tentativa de explorar como a convergência das tradições hermenêuticas orientais e ocidentais poderia ajudar a desenvolver uma metodologia teológica centrada na causa dos subalternos na Índia. Com esta intenção, o artigo tenta apontar a intersecção e a ressonância entre o método tradicional de interpretação “dhvani” e algumas das correntes hermenêuticas ocidentais contemporâneas. Com referência à tradição indiana, o artigo destaca o fato de a arte da interpretação não se limitar a seguir o texto, mas estar também envolvida na criação de uma pluralidade de textos. A liberdade com relação ao essencialismo do texto, que a tradição hermenêutica indiana incorpora, permite muito espaço aos subalternos não só para interpretarem os textos a partir dos seus pontos de vista, mas também para criarem novos, conduzindo a uma hermenêutica libertadora. Neste contexto, o artigo estuda a convergência da hermenêutica estrutural e pós-estrutural com as correntes hermenêuticas indianas clássicas e como estas podem ajudar a causa dos subalternos e a articulação de uma teologia a partir de sua perspectiva.

ABSTRACT The article is an attempt to explore how a convergence of Eastern and Western hermeneutical traditions could help develop a theological methodology focused on the cause of the subalterns in India. With this intent, it tries to point out the intersection and resonance between the traditional “dhvani” method of interpretation and some of the contemporary Western hermeneutical currents. With reference to Indian tradition, the article highlights how the art of interpretation not only follows the text but is involved also in the creation of a plurality of texts. The freedom from textual essentialism, which the Indian hermeneutical tradition embodies, allows a lot of space for the subalterns not only to interpret texts from their standpoints but also create new ones, leading to a liberative hermeneutics. In this context, the article studies the convergence of structural and post-structural hermeneutics with classical Indian hermeneutical currents and how they can help the cause of the subalterns and the articulation of a theology from their perspective.

RESUMEN Este estudio identifica los aportes del relato autobiográfico, como estrategia didáctica, para el aprendizaje y enseñanza de la teología a no teólogos, desde un modo de hacer teología donde se parte de la experiencia humana como principio y fundamento de una auténtica experiencia de Dios en el pasado, presente y futuro de la humanidad, en diálogo permanente con los aportes científicos de las otras ciencias, al incorporar los aprendizajes y enseñanzas de los estudiantes de otras disciplinas que entran en diálogo con la teología desde el horizonte de comprensión del conocimiento complejo donde el saber debe ser integrador.

Pretende-se salientar que a hermenêutica é uma dimensão estruturante do fazer teológico, e que inúmeros elementos e dinamismos no contexto da fé precisam ser interpretados de acordo com o contexto em que é recebido. Toda Teologia é sempre hermenêutica à medida que passa por processos de acolhida, recepção e aceitação em uma comunidade de fé. A Teologia Latino-americana nasce enquanto interpelação e interpretação que articula o evangelho e a realidade social. Assim, há uma interlocução entre o modo de se fazer Teologia – metodologia e Epistemologia – de Geffré e a Latino-americana. Neste artigo, será destacada esta relação teológica, apresentando as implicações do seu pensamento e a relação com a Tradição Latino-americana.

ABSTRACT This article is based on the theological and epistemological thought of Claude Geffré, highlighting his contribution to Latin American Theology. It aims to emphasize that Theology, as hermeneutics, is a structuring dimension of theological practice in which numerous elements and dynamics in the context of faith need to be interpreted according to the context in which they are received. All Theology is always hermeneutics as it goes through processes of reception, acceptance and acceptance in a community of faith. Latin American Theology arises as an interpellation and interpretation between the gospel and social reality. Thus, there is an interlocution between Geffré’s way of doing Theology – methodology and Epistemology – and Latin American Theology. This article will highlight this theological relationship, presenting the implications of his thought and the relationship with the Latin American Tradition.

RESUMO O artigo discute o pensamento de Paul Tillich, teólogo protestante teutoestadunidense, e sua abordagem a respeito dos problemas da modernidade e do capitalismo. A crítica de Tillich ao capitalismo é uma crítica à modernidade, isto é, de um tipo de racionalidade como uma forma de dessignificação da natureza, ou seja, sua objetificação, e, então, sua dominação. O teólogo compreende que essa forma de racionalidade é estruturante para o modelo econômico de exploração e, em decorrência, de suas consequências sociais e, podemos entender, também ambientais. Superar a crise atual, portanto, envolver repensar a relação do ser humano com a natureza e sua forma de pensá-la. Busca-se, assim, uma racionalidade teológica e religiosa capaz de abarcar a autonomia ao mesmo tempo em que se relacione com a natureza enquanto um significante. Leonardo Boff, pensador católico, chama esse processo de modo de pensar sacramental; Tillich de novo realismo (crente) e/ou teonomia. Chamamos, aqui, de racionalidade da graça, isto é, uma racionalidade a partir da relacionalidade no lugar da dominação. Esta racionalidade supera dicotomias a partir de um modo de conhecer, pensar e comunicar abrangente e reconciliador. Em síntese, o artigo objetiva demonstrar o desenvolvimento do tema no pensamento de Paul Tillich e discuti-lo com os desafios que se impõem do paradigma contemporâneo e as contribuições que a teologia e as ciências da religião podem oferecer à epistemologia geral da humanidade e do ecossistema.

ABSTRACT This article discusses the thought of Paul Tillich, a German-Unitedstatian Protestant theologian, and his approach to the issues of modernity and capitalism. Tillich’s critique of capitalism is a critique of modernity, specifically a type of rationality that leads to the desanctification of nature, meaning its objectification and subsequent domination. Tillich understands this form of rationality as foundational to the economic model of exploitation and its social and, we can also understand, environmental consequences. Overcoming the current crisis, therefore, involves rethinking the relationship between humans and nature and their way of conceptualizing it. Thus, the pursuit is for a theological and religious rationality capable of encompassing autonomy while relating to nature as a significant entity. Leonardo Boff, a Catholic thinker, refers to this process as a sacramental way of thinking; Tillich calls it a new (believing) realism and/or theonomy. Here, we term it the rationality of grace, that is, a rationality based on relationality instead of domination. This overcomes dichotomies through a comprehensive and reconciliatory way of knowing, thinking, and communicating. In summary, the article aims to demonstrate the development of this theme in Paul Tillich’s thought and discuss it in light of the challenges posed by the contemporary paradigm and the contributions that theology and religious studies can offer to the general epistemology of humanity and the ecosystem.

RESUMEN La categoría “signos de los tiempos” es una expresión reciente en el magisterio de la Iglesia Católica, aunque tiene su génesis el tratamiento veterotestamentario del tiempo y en la mención explícita que hace de este término Jesús de Nazareth. No obstante, su uso no ha gozado de una suficiente reflexión teológica y, por tal motivo, puede presentar diversas dificultades interpretativas y repercusiones pastorales. La presente reflexión intenta exponer desde un análisis bíblico y magisterial algunos elementos mínimos necesarios para continuar con su problematización teológica y eclesial.

ABSTRACT The category “signs of the times” is a recent expression in the teachings of the Catholic Church, although it has its genesis in the Old Testament treatment of time and in the explicit mention of this term by Jesus of Nazareth. However, its use has not enjoyed sufficient theological reflection, and, for this reason, it can present various interpretive difficulties and pastoral repercussions. The present reflection attempts to expose from a biblical and magisterial analysis some minimum elements necessary to continue with its theological and ecclesial problematization.

RESUMEN El Dios cristiano es un Dios que se comunica y se revela a través de su Hijo Jesucristo, la Palabra hecha carne (Jn 1,14). En un mundo lleno de ruidos y distracciones atrayentes, el silencio es una condición fundamental como ejercicio constitutivo del acto teológico. Precedida por un silencio contemplativo e intelectual, la reflexión teológica tiene una tarea importante: hacer más inteligible al verdadero Dios cristiano ante otros dioses que se nos presentan en el camino. El silencio teológico posibilita una distancia que inaugura. Se trata de la necesaria distancia inauguradora que posibilita establecer una relación entre alteridades. Si una de las partes es absoluta, termina ocupando todo el espacio y, por tanto, se transforma en un ídolo. La idolatría no es un concepto petrificado ni cosa del pasado, es una tentación siempre latente. Es una falsificación conceptual y práctica del verdadero Dios. La dinámica idolátrica rechaza el silencio.

ABSTRACT The Christian God is a God who communicates and reveals himself through His Son, Jesus Christ, the Word made flesh (Jn 1,14). In a world full of noises and alluring distractions, silence is a fundamental condition in an essential exercise of the theological act. Preceded by a contemplative and intellectual silence, the theological reflection has a very important role: to make the authentic Christian God more intelligible before other gods that we meet along the way. Theological silence makes a certain distance that gives an inaugural opening possible. It deals with the necessary space that opens the possibility of establishing a relationship with the other. If one of the parts is absolute, it would end up occupying the entire space, hence, transforming it as an idol. Idolatry is neither a petrified concept nor a thing of the past, but a latent temptation. It is a conceptual and practical falsification of the authentic God. The dynamic of idolatry rejects silence.

RESUMO C. S. Lewis (1898-1963) foi um dos principais pensadores cristãos do século passado. Autor prolífico, escreveu sobre muitos temas, dentre os quais destacam-se a crítica literária, a teoria da educação, a literatura de fantasia e a exposiçao teológica. O presente artigo pretende verificar a questão de como Lewis entendia o lugar das religiões na experiência da salvação. No cristianismo a soteriologia, entendida como reflexão sobre a experiência da salvação, tem sido ao longo dos séculos identificada com a posição exclusivista, que nega a todas as demais tradições religiosas qualquer possibilidade de valor salvífico. A partir da segunda metade do século XX outras compreensões têm surgido. Uma delas, o inclusivismo, entende que, em Cristo, não cristãos podem ter a experiência da salvação. A hipótese que se pretende demonstrar no artigo é que Lewis defendia a perspectiva inclusivista.

ABSTRACT C. S. Lewis (1898-1963) was one of the main Christian thinkers of the last century. A prolific author, he wrote on many topics, including literary criticism, educational theory, fantasy literature, and theological exposition. This article aims to verify how Lewis understood the place of religions in the experience of salvation. In Christianity, soteriology, understood as a reflection on the experience of salvation, has been identified over the centuries with the exclusivist position, which denies all other religious traditions any possibility of salvific value. From the second half of the 20th century onwards, other understandings have emerged. One of them, inclusivism, understands that, in Christ, non-Christians can have the experience of salvation. The hypothesis intended to be demonstrated in the article is that Lewis defended the inclusivist perspective.

RESUMO A epistemologia, como teoria do conhecimento, examina os problemas da natureza, origem, estrutura e limites da cognição e compreensão. Ela pode fornecer diretrizes para indivíduos sobre como estabelecer uma relação com o ambiente externo, encontrar seu lugar nele ou se adaptar a ele. No âmbito da epistemologia, podemos analisar o aconselhamento espiritual, cuja prioridade também envolve questões existenciais, a busca por respostas a questões como vida, sofrimento, morte, amor, transcendência e outras. Os conselheiros espirituais ainda estão buscando limites claros para suas ações e práticas. Embora o aconselhamento espiritual não seja equivalente ao aconselhamento psicológico, em muitos casos, eles estão intimamente relacionados. Aspectos comuns podem ser encontrados em ambos os tipos de aconselhamento. Essas conexões são significativas para alcançar uma assistência espiritual holística, mas muitas vezes introduzem confusão epistemológica e dificuldades ao tentar diferenciar essas áreas. No aconselhamento espiritual, o objetivo é abordar o indivíduo através da lente da crença. Enquanto os praticantes tanto do aconselhamento espiritual quanto do psicológico empregam habilidades profissionais semelhantes, é importante reconhecer e distinguir os valores que orientam os especialistas em ambas as práticas. O artigo busca responder à pergunta: quais são as principais diferenças e semelhanças entre o aconselhamento espiritual e o psicológico? Para justificar a distinção e identidade do aconselhamento espiritual e psicológico, este artigo busca revelar a essência, significado, diferenças e pontos de conexão entre esses métodos de assistência. Métodos de pesquisa: revisão, análise e síntese da literatura científica e dos estudos.

ABSTRACT Epistemology, as a theory of knowledge, examines the problems of the nature, origin, structure, and limits of cognition and understanding. It can provide guidelines for individuals on how to establish a relationship with the external environment, find their place in it, or adapt to it. Within the framework of epistemology, we can look at spiritual counseling, whose priority also involves existential questions, the search for answers to issues such as life, suffering, death, love, transcendence, etc. Spiritual counselors are still searching for clear boundaries for their actions and practices. Although spiritual counseling is not equivalent to psychological counseling, in many cases, they are closely related. Common aspects can be found in both types of counseling. These connections are significant for achieving holistic spiritual assistance but often introduce epistemological confusion and difficulties in trying to differentiate these areas. In spiritual counseling, the aim is to approach the individual through the lens of religious belief. While practitioners in both spiritual and psychological counseling employ similar professional skills, it is important to recognize and distinguish the values guiding specialists in both practices. The article seeks to answer the question: what are the major differences and similarities between spiritual and psychological counselling? To justify the distinction and identity of spiritual and psychological counseling, this article seeks to reveal the essence, meaning, differences, and points of connection between these methods of assistance. Research methods: review, analysis, and synthesis of scientific literature and research.

RESUMEN El cristianismo hegemónico, la mayoría católica y la presencia activa de pentecostales en el continente americano ha hecho pensar que solo existe una mirada acerca de las diversidades sexogenéricas en el cristianismo, presentándolo como una incompatibilidad espontánea y “natural”; no obstante, históricamente existe una serie de disidencias por muchísimas razones que proponen otras narrativas, entre ellas hay algunas que apuestan por la agencia espiritual de las personas de la diversidad sexual y de género. Teniendo en cuenta una perspectiva descriptiva se tomará en cuenta trabajos etnográficos desde la antropología y la teología para abordar narrativas cristianas, tanto la hegemónica como algunas disidentes para presentar otras formas de comprensión de lo cristiano y las disidencias sexogenéricas desde una propuesta teórica y práctica; para finalizar se propondrán alternativas de agencia espiritual como alternativa a la institucionalidad cristiana.

ABSTRACT Hegemonic Christianity, the Catholic majority and the active presence of Pentecostals in the American continent have made us think that there is only one view about sex-gender diversity in Christianity, presenting it as a spontaneous and “natural” incompatibility; however, historically there is a series of dissidences for many reasons that propose other narratives, among them there are some that bet on the spiritual agency of people of sexual and gender diversity. Taking into account a descriptive perspective, ethnographic works from anthropology and theology will be taken into account to approach Christian narratives, both the hegemonic and some dissidents to present other ways of understanding Christianity and sex-gender dissidence from a theoretical and practical proposal; finally, alternatives of spiritual agency will be proposed as an alternative to Christian institutionality.

Resumo Este artigo centra-se no papel desempenhado pela dúvida na formação da fé enquanto estado mental dos seres humanos. Nos debates contemporâneos sobre a fé, a dúvida refuta uma teoria ou apoia outra. No entanto, a questão crucial mantém-se: será a dúvida um elemento essencial inerente à fé? Este artigo defende que a dúvida é uma componente fundamental e necessária da fé, especialmente quando se considera a fé como uma virtude. A primeira parte deste artigo estabelece o enquadramento para este estudo, abordando algumas questões cruciais relevantes, tais como: quais são os aspectos necessários da fé. A fé é uma virtude? A segunda parte defende que, tendo em conta a descrição da fé desenvolvida na primeira parte do estudo, a dúvida é um elemento e uma componente necessários da fé para que esta possa ser considerada uma virtude. A metodologia deste estudo baseia-se na análise crítica de fontes primárias e secundárias relevantes para a fé como virtude e na realização de análises conceptuais e argumentativas.

Abstract This paper focuses on the role played by doubt in shaping faith as a mental state in humans. In contemporary discussions on faith, doubt refutes a theory or supports another. However, the crucial question remains: is doubt an essential element inherent in faith? This paper argues that doubt is a fundamental and necessary component of faith, especially when considering faith as a virtue. The first part of this paper sets the framework for this study by addressing some crucial relevant questions, such as what the necessary aspects of faith are. Is faith a virtue? The second part argues that, given the account of faith developed in the first part of the study, doubt is a necessary element and component of faith for it to be considered a virtue. This study’s methodology is founded on critically examining primary and secondary sources relevant to faith as a virtue and engaging in conceptual and argumentative analyses.

RESUMO Este artigo apresenta, a partir da análise narrativa, uma proposta de enredo para a narrativa de João 6,1-71, estruturada em três cenas: 6,1-15; 16-21; 22-71. A primeira sessão analisa cada uma das três cenas, apresentando seus respectivos enredos episódicos. Na segunda sessão, o desafio consiste em destacar os elementos unificadores utilizados pelo narrador na conexão das cenas que, naturalmente, produzirá um enredo unificante. Por fim, demonstra a lógica narrativa do enredo unificante, percebendo a contribuição de cada cena para que a narração completa cumpra seu objetivo principal, que é oferecer ao leitor a resposta à pergunta-chave da narrativa: que tipo de Messias Jesus é?

ABSTRACT This article presents, through narrative analysis, a proposed plot for the narrative of John 6:1-71, structured into three scenes: 6:1-15; 16-21; 22-71. The first section analyzes each of the three scenes, outlining their respective episodic plots. In the second section, the challenge is to highlight the unifying elements employed by the narrator in connecting the scenes, naturally yielding a cohesive plot. Finally, it demonstrates the narrative logic of the cohesive plot, discerning the contribution of each scene to ensure that the entire narration fulfills its primary objective, which is to provide the reader with the answer to the narrative’s key question: What kind of Messiah is Jesus?

RESUMO Este estudo realiza uma análise sincrônica do livro de Jó, com o objetivo de demonstrar a tese das estruturas quadripartidas presentes na narrativa. A metodologia utilizada integra a abordagem canônica e a análise narrativa, examinando e estruturando o texto a partir de suas indicações sintáticas e temáticas. O foco está na identificação dessas estruturas quadripartidas nos blocos literários e capítulos, bem como na retórica quádrupla em perícopes e versículos. A pesquisa, fundamentada na análise do Texto Massorético (TM), investiga o quadrilátero ético (1,1b) que caracteriza Jó como “íntegro e reto, temente a Deus e que se afastava do mal”, e em 23,8-9, que revela a busca de Jó por Eloah nos quatro cantos do cosmos. Os resultados obtidos favorecem uma hermenêutica cosmológica que integra e ilumina o enredo completo do livro de Jó.

ABSTRACT This study conducts a synchronic analysis of the Book of Job with the aim of demonstrating the thesis of fourfold structures present within the narrative. The methodology employed integrates the canonical approach and narrative analysis, examining and organizing the text based on its syntactic and thematic indications. The focus is on identifying these fourfold structures within the literary blocks and chapters, as well as the fourfold rhetoric in pericopes and verses. The research, grounded in the analysis of the Masoretic Text (MT), investigates the ethical quadrilateral (1,1b), which characterizes Job as “blameless and upright, fearing God and shunning evil”, and in 23,8-9, which reveals Job’s search for Eloah in the four corners of the cosmos. The findings support a cosmological hermeneutic that integrates and illuminates the entire narrative of the Book of Job.

RESUMEN La epistemología teológica se ocupa de cómo conocemos a Dios y cómo adquirimos conocimiento sobre lo divino. El discernimiento es una parte integral de este proceso epistemológico, ya que implica la capacidad de discernir la voluntad y el deseo de Dios a través de la revelación divina. El discernimiento que proponemos en este artículo se adentra en lo más profundo del ser humano, ahí donde habitan sus anhelos de felicidad y plenitud. Los modelos que se nos presentan en el mundo actual se forjan mediante la mímesis y se tornan insuficientes pues no alcanzan a llenar de sentido. Discernir no es reflexionar sobre las razones de éxito o fracaso de una determinada decisión. Discernir es abrazar la fraternidad que nace del seno de la comunidad como fuente de identidad, espacio para sanar las heridas, escuchar el deseo de Dios y responder a su llamada.

ABSTRACT Theological epistemology addresses how we comprehend God and how knowledge about the divine is acquired. Discernment plays an essential role in this epistemological framework, as it entails the ability to perceive God’s will and desires through divine revelation. The approach to discernment articulated in this article penetrates the deepest realms of the human spirit, where desires for happiness and fulfillment reside. The models that are presented in the contemporary world are constructed through mimesis and prove to be inadequate because they do not sufficiently fill our lives with meaning. Discernment is not merely reflecting on the reasons for success or failure of a specific decision. Rather, discernment means embracing the fraternity that emerges from the core of the community, serving as a source of identity, a space for healing wounds, a means to listen to God’s desire, and to respond to His call.

Resumo o artigo reflete, como ponto de partida, o retorno revestido de cientificidade de algumas ideias do passado, as quais em geral causam perplexidade aos cientistas e ordinariamente provocam inquietações religiosas, sobretudo entre os adeptos ao cristianismo. O texto conjectura essa situação como decorrência da polarização inadequada entre fé e ciência, relocando e justificando a relação como um embate específico entre duas racionalidades: a racionalidade teológica e a racionalidade científica, e não entre experiência subjetiva (fé) e racionalidade objetiva (ciência). Na perseguição desse itinerário, o texto retoma, à luz da literatura, a uma análise construída criticamente acerca das categorias subjacentes a discussão, a saber: Deus, religião, fé e ciência, numa tessitura que conduzirá a uma crítica implícita ao fazer teológico no decorrer do tempo e a necessidade de repensar a teologia na atualidade, senão em sua totalidade, ao menos no campo de estudo apresentado nesse texto.

Abstract The article reflects, as a starting point, the scientific return of some ideas from the past, which in general cause perplexity to scientists and ordinarily provoke religious concerns, especially among adherents of Christianity. The text conjectures this situation as a result of the inadequate polarization between faith and science, relocating and justifying the relationship as a specific clash between two rationalities: theological and scientific rationality and not between subjective experience (faith) and objective rationality (science). In the pursuit of this itinerary, the text resumes, in the light of literature, an analysis critically constructed about the categories underlying the discussion, namely: God, religion, faith and science, in a fabric that will lead to an implicit criticism when doing theological in the course of time and the need to rethink theology today, if not in its entirety, at least in the field of study presented in this text.

RESUMEN El presente artículo investiga la constitución dramática del espíritu finito en el mundo, en el testimonio del encuentro unitivo con el Espíritu Infinito, según se expresa en la segunda redacción de Llama de amor Viva de Juan de la Cruz. El análisis de las expresiones, relativas a la hipótesis, revela paradójicamente la capacidad infinita del espíritu finito de ser transformado por el Espíritu Infinito. Esta apertura trascedente fundamenta la realización personal más auténtica del ser finito, operada por el amor divino, en el drama de la transformación mística: un ser liberado para la comunión trinitaria.

ABSTRACT The present article investigates the dramatic constitution of the finite spirit in the world, in the testimony of the unitive encounter with the Infinite Spirit, as expressed in the second Writing John of the Cross’ Flame of Living Love. The analysis of the expressions relative to the hypothesis paradoxically reveals the infinite capacity of the finite spirit to be transformed by the Infinite Spirit. This transcendent openness underlies the most authentic personal fulfillment of the finite being, operated by divine love, in the drama of mystical transformation: a being liberated for Trinitarian communion.

RESUMEN El trabajo de investigación aborda cuestiones fundamentales relacionadas con la inmortalidad del alma desde una perspectiva teológica, en el contexto de la relación entre la fe y la razón. A través de un análisis del aporte filosófico, la Sagrada Escritura y los escritos de los Santos Padres, así como las enseñanzas del Magisterio, el Catecismo de la Iglesia y las contribuciones de algunos teólogos contemporáneos, se busca ofrecer una visión integral del tema. Se argumenta que la inmortalidad no es una invención helénica, sino que también tiene fundamentos en la Biblia y la tradición cristiana. Se considera que la resurrección es un aporte significativo de la Revelación, y junto con la inmortalidad, constituyen conceptos complementarios. Negar la veracidad de la resurrección dificulta sustentar la inmortalidad, la cual es imperfecta sin el cuerpo. La unión de ambos coprincipios refleja una perfección divina, acercando al hombre a la imagen de Dios.

ABSTRACT The research work addresses fundamental questions related to the immortality of the soul from a theological perspective, in the context of the relationship between faith and reason. Through an analysis of the philosophical contribution, Sacred Scripture and the writings of the Holy Fathers, as well as the teachings of the Magisterium, the Catechism of the Church and the contributions of some contemporary theologians, it seeks to offer a comprehensive view of the subject. It is argued that immortality is not a Hellenic invention, but also has foundations in the Bible and the Christian tradition. Resurrection is considered to be a significant contribution of Revelation, and together with immortality, they constitute complementary concepts. To deny the veracity of the resurrection makes it difficult to sustain immortality, which is imperfect without the body. The union of both co-principles reflects a divine perfection, bringing man closer to the image of God.
